The West Akyem District Assembly realised 110,000 Ghana cedis out of its estimated 180,000 Ghana cedis internally generated revenue for 2007.
This represents 62 per cent of its revenue by the end of June.
Mr Kwabena Sintim-Aboagye, West Akyem District Chief Executive who announced at the third ordinary meeting of the first session of the assembly at Asamankese said the assembly's projected total expenditure for 2007 was 1,370,000 Ghana cedis but had spent about 660,000 Ghana cedis by June.
He noted that the assembly's inability to mobilize funds for development was affecting its activities.
Mr Sintim-Aboagye said it was therefore necessary for the assembly to review its performance periodically and institute measures to increase revenue.
He said the assembly was committed to improve the sanitary conditions in the district and construct slaughter houses and hand-dug wells at Osenase, Adeiso and Asamankese at an estimated cost of 8,303 Ghana cedis.
Mr Sintim-Aboagye announced that the assembly had acquired 2.4 hectares at Okotekrom-Asibrem as a landfill site at a cost of 1,500 Ghana cedis.
He said under the sanitation model of the National Youth Employment Programme, 10 environmental health inspectors popularly known as "Samansaman" had been recruited and deployed at Osenase, Asamankese, Mepom, Adeiso and Brekumanso to improve sanitation.
