English side West Bromwch Albiom have re-ignited their interest in Ghanaian midfielder Derek Boateng, who is set to quit the Ukraine top-flight after a racist bust-up.
The 29-year-old is reported to be keen to leave club Dnipro after he was racially abused during a Premier League game against Vorskla Poltava player on March 10.
The Black Stars enforcer was shown the marching off orders after he lost his cool and punched a player of Poltava for calling him a ‘Black Monkey’.
The incident according to reports has made the player grown unhappy at the club and Baggies boss Roy Hodgson who has long been a key admirer of the dynamic midfielder wants to cash in and lure him to the Hawthorns.
They failed to meet the price tag of £7million set by his former club Getafe before he moved to Ukraine last season but believe they can prize him to bolster their midfield ranks next season.
Boateng previously saw a move to England collapse almost a decade ago when Steve McClaren tried to sign him at Middlesbrough, but he could not gain a work permit.
But he’s now a fully fledged Ghana international and a permit would no longer be an issue.
The former Valencia and Villarreal target has also previously played for Kalama, Panathinakos, OFI Crete and Beitar Jerusalem
