New Patriotic Party Members of Parliament in the Western Region have lashed out at their colleagues in the National Democratic Congress from the region.
The NDC MOs Wednesday organized a press conference during which they challenged their NPP colleagues to support a $3 billion Chinese loan agreement.
They argued that a chunk of the loan will be used in the development of the region, adding, if only the colleagues from the other side have the interest of the region at heart, they should “stand up and be counted.”
The NPP Western Region caucus in Parliament on Thursday described the press conference by their colleagues as “childish” “ill-conceived” and a futile attempt to create animosity between the NPP MPs and residents in the Western Region.
They expressed hope that their colleagues will rise above partisanship and seek the supreme interest of the country.
In a related development, Chiefs from the Western Region have appealed to MPs to support the amended loan agreement.
At a press conference, the chiefs said the loan if approved, will improve the lot of all Ghanaians.
Joy News’ Araba Coomson who was present at the media briefing said the chiefs are advocating a non-partisan debate on the matter.
