The World Health Organisation (WHO) has presented teaching aids and training modules to the Cape Coast Nursing and Midwifery School to facilitate the training of students. The teaching aids are, a female adult doll popularly known as ‘Madame Zoë’, a birth stimulator and a prototype female pelvis to enhance students knowledge about female anatomy. The training modules are Compact Disks on how to manage complications of pregnancy. They formed part of a 50,000-dollar package being presented to all 13 Midwifery Schools and Public Health Nursing School at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Dr Joaquim Saweka, Country Representative of WHO in Ghana, presenting the items said WHO had recognized the important role midwives and public health nurses played in the health sector. He said the teaching materials were to enhance practical teaching and learning to enable the students perform better after their training. Mrs Victoria Brown, Principal of the school, expressed appreciation to the organization for the gesture that would facilitate practical work and training of students. She appealed for more assistance because the school had increased its intake of midwifery students to help cater for their shortage in health institutions.Source: GNA
