President Nana Akufo-Addo has explained that he decided to confirm the appointment of the Inspector-General of Police, James Oppong-Buanuh because of how creditably he has performed in an acting capacity.
Addressing a durbar in his honour by the chiefs and people of the Dormaa Traditional Area as of his two-day visit to the Bono Region at Dormaa-Ahenkro on Monday, the President praised the IGP for his performance since his appointment.
"I know the IGP comes from the Bono Region but I do not know that is a native of this area ", he stated in response to an enquiry by the Domaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeyor Agyeman Badu ll.
During his welcoming remarks, Osagyefo Agyeman Badu had asked the President to confirm or deny information circulating on the social media about the confirmation of the appointment of Mr Oppong-Buanuh.
Hundreds of residents in the area, including chiefs, students and children thronged the Dormaa-Ahenkro Presbyterian Park to welcome the President and his entourage and had to wait until about 6.00 pm to witness the occasion.
