When Kwadwo Asamoah won CAF Most Promising African Player in 2010 the future did look very bright. His future looked even brighter after joining European giants Juventus in 2012. Kwadwo Asamoah’s dynamism was crucial in his berth to gain regular first team action at Juventus.
He could either play as a left back, central midfielder or on the left side of midfield. However, the script has not gone as planned during his time at the Turin based club. A fairy tale start in Juventus has been hindered by injuries and Asamoah’s chances of breaking into Allegri’s first team seems to be declining year after year.
Last season, Kwadwo Asamoah managed just 18 appearances in the Italian Calcio A. Clearly, Kwadwo Asamoah is being used as a backup in the Juventus. On the other hand, a player with an ambition of playing in the 2018 World Cup (If Ghana manages to qualify) and the 2017 African Cup may not satisfy his ambitions with a backup status. He simply needs to start. Therefore, Kwadwo Asamoah needs to force his way to Galatasaray.
According to Tuttosport, Galatasaray is willing to take Asamoah on loan with an option to buy for €9m. Galatasaray are looking to rebuild after losing out on the Turkish league title to Besiktas. Although Galatasaray were knocked out of the Europa League by Osterunds, I believe the move to Turkey will favour Kwadwo Asamoah because Galatasaray is a big club with good players such as Derdiyok, Inan, Bafotemi Gomis and Fernando.

At Galatasaray, Asamoah will still have the opportunity to re-establish his career by gaining more play time and still gain international recognition in the process. Clearly, Galatasaray are in the market for a left back after contacting Chelsea about the availability Baba Rahman days back.
With Juventus declining any offer for Alex Sandro as well as signing De Sciglio and now closing in on Spinazzola, Asamoah will continue to be a fringe player if he decides to stay with the Old Ladies next season.
Kwadwo Asamoah’s talent is not being fully deployed at Juventus. He needs to go to a team where his skill will be appreciated more. Galatasaray should be the next destination of Kwadwo Asamoah.
I still believe he is an unfinished product and will thrive in any league once he manages to play on a weekly basis.
