In Amanfrom, robbers can take about three hours to break into homes because they are confident that not a single policeman will show up, a resident David Andoh has been explaining.
In the latest robbery spree last Saturday, more than 20 homes were robbed between 1am and 4am.
Although residents are accustomed to criminal activities, the latest incident has left them extremely angry. They are planning a series of demonstrations.

A victim of armed robbery
In an unusual response, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ga South Jerry Akwei Thompson, says the residents of Amanfrom must contribute for their own security.
He wants residents to contribute cement, motorbikes and generally offer assistance to finish the construction of a police post.
The call has become the subject matter of discussion on Joy News’ GhanaConnect.
MP for Weija Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro, Bright Edward Kodzo says he is working to get the bad roads fixed as it is making policing difficult. He says the contractor has moved to the site to work on Amanfrom's dangerous roads.
Real Estate Lawyer, Nana Kyeremanten who owns a real estate company that provides accommodation in gated communities is criticising the local authorities for not showing enough commitment to fighting the menace.
David Andoh also believes the lack of motorable roads is hampering the little effort to patrol the area.

A road in Amanfrom
He also criticised the police for their unprofessional attitude in dealing with the armed robbers. The police, he says, are slow to respond whenever thieves descend into Amanfrom.
Listeners had a prominent say in assessing the call for residents to donate items and also pay for their own security in Amanfrom and surrounding communities.
Bartowski Boateng This is my take, If we want I developed Ghana all we need to do is make sure MMDCE’s are voted for, after that each community can then equally have a say in who represents the government in their town.
Banini Prosper because the government cannot provide security for each household,I would contribute in my own small way for security to be beefed up in my area.
Stanley Sackey This can only happen in Ghana and by you. Even in developed countries people build police posts for their communities and provide them with aids. They never think like we do. The reason the give us aids. Do you think the likes of Dangote and Bill Gates don't pay taxes? Shame.
Korblavi Godsway Yes. But for the development of Ghana and my community. Not to end in anybodies packet.
Nard Marf This government promised better Ghana and they are now telling us what they like. Where are our taxes paid? God will punish them, I swear !!!
Emmanuel Jale Big no , not even when the corrupt MCE are making it mandatory. until corrupt leaders stop wasting tax payers money, I will not and will add more to them
Isaac Ankoma Hackman Big NO, not to this wasteful, selfish, visionless politicians in charge of the country. But with the right and purposeful leadership I won't mind giving 50% of my monthly salary.
Evans Fiifi Frempong NO The best security is yourself
Ruben Opoku-Sarkodie Let them sell Okudzeto car to finance it. Nonsense!
Seth Dadzie A big No ,for what !,why we the tax payer. They should rather tax those in higher post.Hahahahaha.
Sarfo Gerrent Joy Fm, your question should be 'Is it right for people to bear extra costs of putting down police posts?' Ghanaians have shown willingness of paying extra taxes already. The answer is absolutely No because government is shifting its core responsibility which is treacherous!
Solomon Nyantakyi No, if I do then they will use my tax to do their usual NPP, NDC politics no way.
