The Women in Engineering (WinE), the women’s wing of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), has marked the 2025 International Women in Engineering Day, with a mentoring session for students/pupils of schools across the branches of GhIE in the country.
In Accra, the President of WinE Ghana, Ing. Naki Tetteh-Anowie, together with some members of WinE, celebrated the day at Mary Mother Good Counsel School, Airport West, on Monday, 23rd June, 2025.
Speaking to the students/pupils, Ing. Naki said, today, across the country and around the world, we are celebrating the power, passion, and potential of women in engineering. This year’s theme, “Together, We Engineer,” reminds us that true progress is built on inclusion, collaboration, and shared purpose. Today is more than a celebration—it is a call to action. A reminder that engineering is not just a career; it is a force for change. It is how we design solutions to the world’s biggest problems. From clean water access in our communities, to sustainable energy, safer roads, healthcare technology, and climate resilience, engineering is everywhere. And it needs the voices, minds, and hearts of women and girls.

Ing Naki added that at WinE Ghana, they believe that girls must see themselves as problem solvers, innovators, and builders of a better world. Engineering is not just about machines or mathematics. It’s about finding smart, practical solutions to real issues.
She encouraged the little girls to take engineering as their future profession, saying; “to the bright young girls with us today, I want you to know: you have what it takes. Your ideas, your curiosity, and your courage are needed. Engineering is for you. Your voice
matters. And your future is full of possibilities”.
She showed appreciation to all women engineers and mentors for showing what’s possible, and urged them to keep lifting the young girls as they climb the ladder of engineering.
