Teachers and pupils of the Woe Salvation Army Basic School in the Keta District in the Volta region, 150 km west of Accra are threatening to go on demonstration to protest an alleged police inaction in finding a teacher of the school who has gone missing since September 2006. Attempts they made to go on the streets last Monday failed following the refusal of the Police to grant them permit. The teacher, Mr. Wilson Tenu, 29, was said to have left home at Woe on September 6, 2006 to buy an item but failed to return. The bicycle on which he rode has also not been traced since then. The Woe Salvation Army school teachers are asking why the Police have failed to invite for questioning the girl friend of Tenu. They are also asking why the Police have not questioned one Xovor Akpalu, who was found in possession of the teacher's mobile phone and a fetish priest, who admitted selling the phone to Akpalu. The Deputy Superintendent of Police in-Charge of Crime at the Keta Police Command, Frank Adufati, who confirmed the report, assured the teachers that the division had taken charge of investigations from the Anloga Police. He blamed the school authorities for failing to report the incident to the Police early. Mr. Adufati said all those mentioned in connection with the case would be re-invited to the Police Station. GBC
