The Odorkor District Police in Accra have begun investigations into the alleged murder of a 46-year-old former employee of Vodafone who was strangulated to death in her sitting room at Agape near Ablekuma, a suburb of Accra. The body of Madam Kate Otchere was found with a short rope hanging around her neck and sitting in a prostrate position in her sitting room on Tuesday evening around 4:30pm.According to eyewitness account, the perpetrators may have strangulated her with the rope from her bedroom to the hall, as the bedroom was scattered at the time the police visited the scene around 5pm that fateful day.The eyewitness said the woman was facing down, with the tongue out and blood oozing from the nostrils. The eyewitness disclosed that rumours circulating in the neighbourhood pointed fingers at her boyfriend."The husband died years ago and she lives with her two children, who are eleven and two-and-a-half years old, together with her younger sister," the eyewitness said. The Odorkor Police Commander, Mr. Ebenezer Asare, revealed that the Anyaa Police, upon getting the information, rushed to the scene around 5 pm.Me said the police found the body in a supine position at the hall with a rope tied around the neck.Superintendent Asare averred that investigations established that in the bedroom, the assassin(s) might have struggled with the deceased before finally killing her in the sitting room.He confirmed that there was no serious mark of assault on the body but blood was oozing from the nostrils."Even though the rope around her neck was partially removed, residents who heard the junior sister scream for help after returning from work said they thought she was still alive so they loosened it (the rope) to save her life."Meanwhile, he noted, full investigations have begun to ascertain the cause of death and to bring the perpetrators to book.Source: Daily Guide
