A Sunyani Magistrate Court on Tuesday remanded a 27-year-old woman, Ms Mary Adjei, into prison custody for allegedly murdering her 30-year-old boyfriend, Mr. Emmanuel Adusei over “chop money”.
Mary whose plea was not taken, would re-appear before court on June 26.
The police are investigating the case while the body of the deceased is being deposited at the Sunyani Regional Hospital for autopsy.
Chief Inspector Addo told the court presided over by Mr. Joseph Mensah that Adusei was a worker at Oti Yeboah Complex Limited, a timber firm at Abesim, near Sunyani.
He said Mary and Adusei resided at Chiraa in the Sunyani West District of Brong Ahafo, where the tragedy occurred around 4:00pm on Monday.
He said at 3:30pm on the fateful day, Adusei had a quarrel with Mary over “chop money”, and Adusei went to the bedroom to sleep and his girlfriend followed up.
Chief Inspector Addo said Mary stabbed her boyfriend to death with a broken mirror, and went to hiding but was later arrested by the police.
Mary told the court that she committed the crime out of self defence because Adusei always pounce on her whenever she requested for money to buy food.
