A 56-year-old woman who has been suffering from post-menopausal bleeding has undergone surgery to correct the abnormality.
Janet Afriyie, also suffering from lorry accident complications, received financial support for the surgery after JoyNews highlighted her plight.
The mother of seven who sells fruit was involved in a ghastly accident on the outskirts of Banko near Effiduase in the Ashanti region.
Her left arm had deteriorated after she opted for herbal treatment when she failed to raise enough money for orthopaedic care.
She has had continuous excessive abnormal bleeding for over two years, a condition doctors at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) say is rare.
The diagnosis, done through the financial support of Dr Poku Adusei, Director of Legal at National Communication Authority (NLA) and pharmacist Daniel Osei, lasted over several weeks.
The four-hour surgery followed a successful diagnosis of her condition through biopsy, including removing cells in her uterus, among others.
It was all joy as Madam Afriyie left the hospital ward after the surgery.
Pearls of NPP, a pro-government group affiliated to Trade Minister, Allan Kwadwo Kyerematen but focused on women empowerment, was at the hospital to foot her medical bills.

National President of the group, Josephine Obiri Yeboah, led a delegation to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to settle the bills of Madam Afriyie.
According to her, the group was touched by the plight of the widow and mother of seven.
“She was not able to pay her bills; we’ve already paid the bills in support of her because we can’t just watch her be in pain and at the same time not able to pay her bills. We can’t allow that.”
Madam Afriyie was grateful to the group and The Multimedia Group for coming to her aid.
“I am grateful to Allan Kyeremateng for the quest to ensure I stay healthy, live happily and also get some work for my son. Thank you for rescuing me from being detained,” she said.
Meanwhile, Madam Afriyie is scheduled for another surgery to correct her am deformities.
