The 62nd Remembrance Day Service and parade commemorating the end of the Second World War, was held at the Jubilee Park, near the Volta Regional House of Chiefs in Ho on Sunday. On parade were contingents from the 66 Artillery Regiment, the Prisons Service, Police, Fire Service, Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) and Veterans Association of Ghana (VAG). Christian, Muslim and Traditional prayers were said for national peace, prosperity and for the repose of the souls of departed veterans. Captain George Nfordjo (Rtd), Member of Parliament for Ho Central, read the binyon verse to usher in the blowing of the siren and sounding of the last post at exactly 11.00 hours, accompanied by a three-gun-salute from the background. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the President and people of Ghana, by the Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi, the VAG by Major Adraku (RTD), Togbe Kwaku Ayim IV, Paramount of Ziavi Traditional Area laid one on behalf of chiefs and Major David Wuni Acting Commanding Officer of 66 Artillery Regiment, on behalf of all security services.Source: GNA
