Minority Spokesman on Foreign Affairs, Hon. John Mahama says it is unfortunate Ghana cannot stop Gambian President Yahya Jammeh from attending the AU Summit in Accra, however, he should be told he is not a welcome guest.John Mahama’s anger, which epitomizes that of many, stems from the Gambian government’s unwillingness to probe the alleged massacre of 44 Ghanaian immigrants in the Gambia by security operatives in 2005.The victims were said to be travelling through The Gambia alongside six other African nationals en route to Europe when they were arrested at the Senegalese border village of Amadalaye for illegally entering the country, framed up in a fake coup and butchered to death. Two of them who managed to escape were later picked up.Discussions between Ghana’s Foreign Ministry and its Gambian counterparts have since made very little progress, owing to what the Foreign Ministry says is the Gambian government’s uncooperative attitude.
