The Yendi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has vowed to ensure that soldiers and prisons officers who fought during fun games over the weekend are severely sanctioned.
Issah Zakariah has called an emergency District Security Council meeting this morning to discuss the incident.
The violence was triggered by a penalty awarded against the military team during a football match with the Prisons Service.
Reports say supporters of the military team who disagreed stormed the field and attacked their opponents.
At least two people sustained injuries.
The MCE says there is no tension in the area but insists it is necessary today’s DISEC meeting discusses sanctioned that must be meted out to those involved.
