Family of the late chief whose mortal remains have vanished into thin air is threatening to use spiritual means to deal with persons behind the disappearance of his body.

In a new twist to the Yilo Krobo fracas that has left two families at each others' throats, Divine  Dawutey head of the Ologo family in Sra said whoever is responsible for the disappearance of the body of the late chief would soon die under very mysterious circumstances.

There has been tension in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern region following a violent demonstration by some disgruntled youth over the disappearance of the body of the late paramount chief Nene Ologo Dawutey.

The body has been missing for the past six days.

Police intervened and arrested five persons said to have taken part in the demonstrations.

On Thursday, Joy News' Eastern Region correspondent Kofi Siaw reported residents in Somanya and Sra, all in the Yilo Krobo Municipality are fleeing the towns for fear of being arrested by the police.

The police say the residents did not comply with Public Order Act before embarking on the demonstration.

Per the Act, the police must be informed five clear days before any demonstration is held, something the demonstrators failed to do. The police have vowed to clampdown on the demonstrators.

However, the family of the late chief is unhappy with the police and  it will do everything to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.

Divine Dawutey said the police over exaggerated in their actions.

"I take what happened yesterday with a pinch of salt. When the police came the youth were drumming and dancing under the tree. They were not throwing stones they were not attacking anybody.

"So I don't see why they should use excessive force to arrest anybody."

"There is no law banning drumming and dancing at the time they were doing it.

"We will give the police the pressure. If they don't deliver we will go the spiritual way," he threatened, adding "we must by all means find the body of the paramount chief."

"This is the first time the body of a paramount chief has been exhumed in the traditional area," he indicated.
