A youth group affiliated to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Young Democrats Movement (YDM) has congratulated all constituents of the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa for ensuring very peaceful elections on the 7th of December, 2012. The group also thanked the people for voting massively to retain the party in government as well as the parliamentary candidate, Matthias Puozaa. This was contained in a press release jointly signed by the chairperson and vice chairperson Vincent Ninkun and Titus Kantubogi respectively. The young democrats movement stated the victory of the NDC in the Upper West region is a holistic one that has seen bigwigs in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) like the Deputy Minority Leader, Ambrose Dery, Member of Parliament for Wa East, Godfrey Bayong Tangu and many others lose their parliamentary seats leaving the NPP without a single seat from the region. ‘‘The fraudulent and masked free SHS policy as the solo campaign message of the NPP has been unmasked by Ghanaians and thrown into the gutters and quality education embraced by the majority. President Mahama is the best person to lead the country at this crucial moment because he is experienced, humble, trustworthy, decisive, action-oriented, accessible, respectful and above all a unifier,’’ they added. They also praised the NPP for accepting defeat after the Returning Officer declared the results in favor of the NDC. They called on all political parties in the constituency to concede defeat, join hands with the NDC in order for them to advance the cause of the Better Ghana Agenda. They stated that the next NDC administration will focus on hooking to the national grid the rest of the communities that are without electricity, construction of CHPS Compounds and refurbishment of old ones, drilling of boreholes for portable drinking water, quality education through infrastructure improvement, better roads and more jobs for the youth. They concluded by calling on all and sundry to bury their differences created during the campaigns and unite for total development of the district.
