The youth have been advised not to engage in chieftaincy disputes and other negative tendencies that could undermine their progress and national development.
They have also been asked to avoid indiscriminate sex to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, which had no known cure.
Mr. Emmanuel Sodja Martey, Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Youth Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC), gave the advice at a youth forum at Winneba on Thursday.
The forum was organised by the NYC in collaboration with Therdnet Organisation, a local non-governmental organisation, at Winneba on Thursday.
The event, which was attended by members of ten registered youth organisations from the district, discussed HIV/AIDS, inter-group and intra-group conflicts and other challenges facing the youth and how to make youth organisations effective.
Mr. Martey cautioned youth leaders not to lord it over people adding, "A good leader must be emphatic, tolerant, have vision and strategies to enable him or her to achieve positive results."
