Mr Ato Kessih, Central Regional Director of the National Youth Authority, has cautioned the youth not to allow politicians to use them to create conflicts during and after the 2012 elections.
He condemned the situation whereby some youth gave themselves up to be used to perpetrate violence resulting in loss of properties.
Mr Kessih said this at the launch of the “Better Ghana Youth Agenda” in Winneba in the Effutu Municipality on Friday, organized by the National Youth Authority (NYA).
It was aimed at sensitizing the youth throughout the country on the dangers of violence and conflicts in the elections.
Topics discussed included “Youth Health and Sexuality,” “Drug Use and Substance Abuse,” “Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution”.
He said the programme had already been launched in the Ashanti, Volta, Western and Brong Ahafo regions.
Mr Kessih said the youth should not see their colleagues in other political divides as enemies adding that they are one people trying to shape the same idea and goal toward the realization of economic and social development of the country.
Mr Alhasan Baba Mamudu, a Psychologist, who spoke about homosexuality, warned the youth to do away with the practice since it could destroy their lives in future.
He called on parents, Christian and Muslim leaders and government to intensify the campaign against homosexuality.
Mr Emmanuel S. Martey, Effutu Municipal Coordinator of the NYA, said the launch of the project in the area was a wake-up call for the youth to avoid entangling themselves in election violence.
