Blessed Youth Club based at Awutu-Bawjiase, has initiated what it described “River Saving” programme to prevent rivers from drying up completely during dry seasons. Under the programme, 2,000 trees would be planted along the banks of targeted streams in the area every year. Mr Emmanuel Asamani, Interim Chairman of the Club, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Awutu-Bawjiase at the weekend. According to Mr Asamani, leaders of the Club have already channeled their request to the Effutu Municipal Office of the Forestry Services Commission (FSC) for the supply of seedlings. He expressed optimism that the Commission would co-operate and meet the request of the Club so that demarcation of lines for planting would start in good time to ensure the success of the programme.
