Hundreds of youth in the Atwima-Mponua District at the weekend thronged the streets of Nyinahin to protest against attempts by some assembly members to remove the District Chief Executive, Mrs Theresah Adomako-Tawiah.
Enquiries by the Ghana News Agency showed that 18 out of the 50 members of the assembly have signed a petition to begin the process of a no-confidence vote in the DCE but efforts to get a copy of the petition proved futile.
The youth, wearing red arm bands and carrying placards, denounced the actions of the assembly members against the DCE.
Mr Andrew Osei, the spokesperson for the protesters, said they did not see any justification to call for the DCE's removal since she has demonstrated quality leadership.
They said the DCE has within her relatively short time in office, endeared herself to the communities and has left no one in doubt about her concern for the development of the people.
Mr Osei said they would, therefore, resist any attempt to kick her out.
"The DCE should be given the peace of mind to lead our district into progress," he added.
The Assembly can remove the DCE with a-two-thirds majority vote.
