Zoobashop.com was adjudged e-Commerce Company of the Year 2014 by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) at the weekend.
This award, the first ever conferred on an online shop, is proof that the exploits and operations of e-commerce establishments in the country are finally gaining recognition.
The award was received at the 26th Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Awards held on Saturday September 19, 2015, at the Banquet Hall, State House - Accra.
The annual black tie event seeks to pat on the backs, entities in Corporate Ghana, who show marketing prowess in their bid to satisfy their customers.
This year’s event however, saw the introduction of two awards – e-Commerce Company of the Year and Emerging Media (Digital) Company of the Year.
Zoobashop.com, was in the running for this award, with other nascent online retailers, and emerged victorious because its strategic marketing throughout the year in review, was deemed unmatched. Launched in December 2013, the solely Ghanaian-owned online store has worked assiduously to make online shopping appealing to the naturally conservative Ghanaian. Its Cash on Delivery payment option for instance, allows shoppers to make a cash commitment only after their orders have been delivered. This method of payment appealled to a good number of shoppers, cynical of electronic payment due to the high rate of credit card fraud, the world over.
Receiving the award on Zoobashop’s behalf, Albert Biga, the company’s C.E.O. showed enormous appreciation to its customers and Team zoobashop.com. “We are grateful to our numerous shoppers who have believed in us from our launch in December 2013. It was humbling to receive this award on behalf of the hardworking team at zoobashop.com” Mr. Biga said.
Zoobashop.com has come a long way since its launch in 2013. It’s a company that saw virtually no traffic in its first couple of months, but currently has at least thousands of visitors on the website daily. While many of these visitors may not make a purchase on a given day, Mr. Biga is delighted at the figures. He explained, “Considering we’re operating in a new terrain, we’re looking to create brand awareness and subsequently sales. Traffic on our website has increased exponentially since we launched, and it has reflected a great deal on our rake-ins.”
The company’s Director of Operations, Andrew Aguda when interviewed, commended Zoobashop’s staff, both past and present for their commitment towards ensuring the company becomes Africa‘s best online shop, in the not too distant future. ”Awards like this tell us we’re doing something right, and is reason enough not to welsh on our promise to always ensure the Zoobashopper’s experience is an awesome one”, he added.
Zoobashop.com team at the event, excited about winning the award, resolved not to rest on their laurel, and promised to retain and even win a couple more at next year’s event.
