Over 200 students have been trained as E-Learning ambassadors under the E-Learning Initiative Project of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of digital education.
Addressing the gathering at the closing ceremony of the E-Learning Student Ambassadors training, Professor Eric Appau Asante, Director of the E-Learning Centre, commended the dedication and resilience of the students throughout the intensive two-week training period.
"We've witnessed a remarkable journey of innovation and adaptability," he remarked. "These young people have not only embraced digital tools but have also shown unwavering commitment to enhancing their skills and supporting their peers."
Dr. Samuel Antwi, along with a distinguished team of facilitators including Samuel Selorm Avotri, Professor Nana Ewusi Mensah, and others, guided the students through a comprehensive module covering various aspects of online learning.
"We've equipped you with the knowledge and skills needed to excel as ambassadors," Dr. Antwi noted. "Your role is vital in promoting digital education and empowering your fellow students."
Courage Julios Logah, Project Lead of the Mastercard E-Learning Initiative, expressed satisfaction with the students' progress and pledged to consider their requests for establishing E-Learning centres in their respective institutions.
"Your dedication and enthusiasm are inspiring," Logah affirmed. "We are confident that you will make a meaningful impact in your communities."
Professor William Otoo Ellis, Chairman of the Mastercard Foundation at KNUST, emphasized the importance of translating training into action.
"Setting goals is commendable, but true success lies in implementation," he stated. "We must seize the opportunities afforded by this training to effect tangible change in our institutions and communities."
Participants had the opportunity to showcase their new skills through group presentations, highlighting their ability to develop online content, conduct assessments, and facilitate digital learning experiences.
Agyeman Prempeh Freeman from the College of Health and Wellbeing at Kintampo commended the program for enhancing his abilities to design online content, while Franklina Anim from Agogo Presbyterian Nursing and Midwifery Training College expressed gratitude for the opportunity to take exams online and receive immediate feedback.
Lydia Boateng, a student of Holy Family Nursing Training College, echoed the sentiments of her peers, emphasizing the transformative impact of the training on her confidence and ability to drive change within her institution.
This initiative, by the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program E-Learning Initiative, supported by the KNUST E-Learning Centre, and Arizona State University, and the United States international University – Africa, represents a collaborative effort to empower students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital age.
As the ambassadors embark on their mission to champion digital education, they carry with them the promise of a brighter, more accessible future for all.
