The 2004-year group of Prempeh College is investing in the teaching and learning of science and mathematics with the donation of some learning materials to its alma mater.

The alumni donated 90 graph boards to be used in 89 classrooms at the school, an effort that not only addresses current classroom needs but also looks at enhancing the quality of education.

The group also supplied blackboard rulers and other measuring tools that will be particularly valuable for other lessons.

The donation is in celebration of the school’s 75th anniversary since its establishment as one of the top senior high schools in the country.

President of the group, Osei Kofi Addy, highlighted the motivation behind the batch’s donation to Prempeh College.

“I remember when I was in Prempeh College, there were so many things that you see labels on donated by so many groups of the school and we thought that it is important that we also contribute to the teaching and learning because others have already contributed,” he said.

With this inspiration, Mr Addy and his cohort were driven to make a difference by providing essential tools that would support the curriculum and enrich the classroom experience.

According to him, the school has groomed them to become the intellects they are now and was only prudent to give back to the school.

The donation made by the 2004 batch ensures that current and future students have access to quality tools and resources, empowering them to pursue excellence in their studies and laying the foundation for them to also give back to their school and community.

They believe having access to accurate and durable educational materials like graph boards and geometry tools can greatly improve both teaching efficiency and student understanding of Mathematics.

“Basically, every single student does core maths, and other courses like e-maths, physics and economics. And scientists have proven that visual and graphical learning is very important for the development and the growth of the mind,” said Osei Kofi Addy.

He is advocating for past students to give back to the school.

Assistant Headmaster, Academics, James Owusu Acheaw, expressed gratitude to the group for the generous donation, recognizing the importance of resources that directly impact education.

“As an academic institution, anything that goes into teaching and learning is within our priority,” he said.

According to him, Prempeh College had previously struggled with a shortage of graph boards, essential tools for mathematics and science classrooms.

“The limited number available had to be rotated between classrooms which complicated lessons in various classes,” he stated.
