The spokesperson of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Mohammed Amin Lamptey has attributed Joseph Kingkong Agbeko’s loss to three key things.
Joseph Agbeko failed to recapture the IBF Bantamweight title in the early hours of last Sunday at the Honda Center in California and has raised a lot of questions on his boxing credentials.
But the Spokesperson for the Ghana Boxing Authority believes he still has a lot of boxing artistry in him provided he put his camp in order.
Speaking on Asempa Fm’s afternoon program, Fire-for-Fire on Monday, the GBA spokesperson said Joseph Agbeko lost the bout due to the absence of a psychologist in his camp, lack of game plan and lack of technical and tactical expertise.
According to him, these key elements go a long way in winning boxing bouts and cannot fathom why our professional boxers in the country fail to appreciate these key elements in boxing.
The Spokesperson wondered why Agbeko in his post fight reaction had to say he was aware of the fact that, if you want to win against a champion in California then you will have to knock him out.
“I believe this was an unfortunate comment, what he should have done was to be gracious in defeat and say he is still the real deal in the division”, he added.
Mohammed Amin Lamptey bemoaned the fact that the professional boxers fail to consult and involve the Ghana boxing Authority in their decisions.
The GBA Spokesperson called on the Pro Boxers to involve the mother body in their decision making especially in their career decisions since that is how it is done elsewhere.
Mohammed Amin Lamptey could not hide his optimism on the future of Ghana boxing, hinting that there are a lot of young and talented boxers coming up and cannot see how the future cannot be bright.
