Lieutenant Colonel Abass Seidu, Commanding Officer (CO) of the 66 Artillery Regiment, has asked his officers and men to “exhibit high standards of professionalism in all their endeavours” to deepen the current good civilian-military relations.
He made the call at a get-together organized by the Regiment as part of activities marking this year’s West African Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA) Celebrations in Ho.
Lieutenant Colonel Seidu urged the soldiers to prove themselves “worthy ambassadors of the unit”.
He described the year as “very successful and effective” and mentioned the setting up of internal security services for the region, donations to the Ghana Heart Foundation and Drifting Angels Orphanage in Tsito and a documentary on the activities of the Regiment-the first of its kind in the Ghana Armed Forces, as some of the achievements.
Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister expressed gratitude to the regiment for its support for the region and also stressed the need for strong civilian-military relations.
A band formed with pupils from the 7 Garrison and Kabore Schools; Baby Canons Gospel Band, was inaugurated by Colonel Cyril Necku (rtd), Deputy Regional Minister and a former CO of the Regiment.
He charged the Regiment to sustain the Band saying, “this band is dear to my heart just like the Supreme Canons”, the flagship dance band of the Regiments formed many years ago.
