The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Cyber Security Authority and National Security, has arrested a suspect for defilement and the production and possession of child sexual abuse materials.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the police said the arrest was made on March 6, 2026, at Woraba, a suburb of Eguase in Cape Coast, Central Region, during a joint intelligence-led operation.
It said the suspect, Ebenezer Conduah, aged 45, is the lead pastor of Mahanaim Christian Center in Ankaful, Cape Coast.
According to the police, investigations reveal that in August 2021, Conduah lured a then 13-year-old Junior High School student into his home under the guise of "spiritual counselling and behavioural correction, subjecting her to repeated sexual abuse over a period."
"He recorded the abuse on his mobile phone and, in some instances, forced the survivor to appear on camera, referencing an adult pornographic website, with apparent intent to distribute the content online," the statement read.
The police stated that the abuse came to light after the survivor confided in her school headmistress, prompting a complaint to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Cape Coast.
"Upon arrest, Police recovered one HP laptop, three external hard drives, five pen drives, one Android mobile phone, one tablet, and other exhibits from the suspect's residence, all currently undergoing forensic analysis."
The statement added that the suspect has been remanded into prison custody and is to reappear on March 27, 2026.
