Peace has returned to Ekumfi Edumafa in the Central Region following the settlement of a two-year old misunderstanding between the chief of the town, Otwaesa Edumadze VII, and a section of the people. The misunderstanding led to the withdrawal of the recognition of the chief by a section of the people. Mr William Amoah, General Secretary of the town's Youth Association, which initiated the accord advised the citizens to bear in mind that, "when two elephants fight, it is the grass on the spot of the fight that suffers". Mr Amoah expressed regret, that the problem, which could have been resolved through the expression of "I am sorry, forgive and forget" had cost the town so much in the form of investment and development. "Let us learn to say I am sorry, please forgive me, and how to forget the mistakes of our neighbours, and we shall live in peace," the General Secretary said. Otwaesa Edumadze commended the association for their peace-making effort and assured the people that he would not let the past event becloud his sense of judgement to intimidate anybody on the issue. The Chief appealed to the people for forgiveness in the action he took, which did not go down well with the section of the people. He appealed to investors to take advantage of the peace in the area to invest in the town. Otwaesa Edumadze announced that the annual "Ayerye" festival would be celebrated from the 16th to the 18th of November. The youth association provided a ram, which was slaughtered to seal the accord.
