Jesse Jagz, the younger brother of Nigerian hip hop artiste, M.I. has parted ways with Chocolate City – leaving his brother at the label.
The rapper, who is also a producer and a songwriter, signed to the Chocolate City music label along with M.I., his older brother in 2008.
The label is one of Africa’s successful labels managing several big names in the Nigeria and African music scene including Ice Prince and Brymo.
Jesse Jagz said in a statement released Wednesday that: “I, Jesse Garba Abaga (also known as “Jesse Jagz”) an artist formerly signed to Chocolate City Music label hereby wish to notify my fans and the general public about my voluntary exit from the label.”
According to the statement chanced upon by Myjoyonline.com and signed by him, he said he does not wish to renew his two-year contract with the label.
The Wetin Dey hit singer disclosed that he has “proceeded to continue my music career with my new team at Jesse Jagz Nation.”
The 28-year-old musician said in spite of his exit, he will “still maintain a cordial relationship with the management of Chocolate City and my former label mates and I wish them the best in all their future endeavours.”
Jesse Jagz, born Jesse Garba Abaga, is due to release his sophomore album JagZNation Vol. 1 in July 2013.
