The Zakat Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Chicago, US, on Thursday donated relief items worth GH¢1,500 (¢15 million) to the flood victims in the three Northern Regions.
The items, which included used clothing and shoes were presented to the Ashanti Regional branch of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) at a short ceremony.
Mr Salia Alhassan, the Country's Director who made the donation said the organization, which is concerned with the plight of the under-privileged and needy in society, seeks to alleviate their burden through such donations.
Mr Alhassan explained that his organization was touched by the plight of the flood victims, hence the donation.
He appealed to philanthropists and civil organizations to help rehabilitate the victims.
Receiving the items, Mr Kofi Osei Amponsah, Regional Coordinator of NADMO expressed his appreciation to the foundation and assured that the items would get to the flood victims in the three Northern Regions.
