Renowned Ghanaian Actor David Dontoh of Accra International Film Festival(AIFF) has expressed the need for full branding of the festival to attract movie producers and directors from across the world in subsequent editions. Mr. Dontoh who is also Communications Manager for the Festival was reacting to questions about why few movies were screened during this year’s edition. David Dontoh told Joy News. “…this is the maiden event…we want to establish the festival this year and that is why it is not even competitive. Next year we are actually planning on bringing onboard short films, documentaries and even animations”. “We are going to have a lot of films screened next year because…Bill Duke is actually one of the directors of the largest African-American Films Festival in Miami in the United States and they are all dying to be part of this festival next year and he says at least 20 films from America will come next year”, he adds. Osmo Kwame Addo, one of the directors of the AIFF adds his voice to David Dontoh’s: “This is the maiden edition of the Accra International Film Festival and we wanted to do something to establish the festival…next year I promise you there will be a lot of films from Ghana, West Africa and International as well”. As part of the first ever Accra International Film Festival Thursday, was the screening of “NO TIME TO DIE” by the legendary director and producer King Ampaw and the “COVER” by popular Hollywood producer and director Bill Duke. NO TIME TO DIE,is a story about a hearse driver who faces difficulty in getting a woman to marry because of the African superstition attached to people who are involved with the dead. “Cover”, produced and directed by the ‘Rambo’ star Bill Duke, is a drama thriller film starring Aunjanue Ellis, Razaaq Adoti, Vivica A. Fox, and Leon. The story is about Valerie Mass (Aunjanue Ellis) a God-fearing housewife and artist who one day finds herself in a situation she never imaged possible, being questioned on murder charges by no-nonsense police detective Hicks (Lou Gossett Jr.) and Simmons (Clifton Davis), a district attorney eager to close this case, as Valerie repeatedly insists she's not a murderer. Valarie’s marriage also starts to drown after she discovered, the truth was more complicated than she could imagine. The AIFF is a six days festival which will end on Sunday the 30th June with an award show.
