Organizers of the Vodafone Icons: Street Edition have organized a pre-season finale cocktail bringing selected media personnel and the four finalists, Kelvin, Budda, Marion and Ryan together for a briefing ahead of the finals of the competition this Thursday.
The event was used to brief the media about the prize package at stake for the winner of the competition – a recording contract with Universal Music, a brand new Kia Sportage, among other mouthwatering packages.
But it was not business as usual for the journalists who were present. After a few rounds of questioning, they were put into groups of four with each group having a finalist on board.
Indeed, it was fun to see journalists like Joy News’ Gladys Osei-Owiredu, award-winning celebrity blogger, Ameyaw Debrah as well as a team from Vodafone Ghana struggle to do the karaoke.
The four finalists also seized the opportunity to tell the journalists why they each think they deserve to win the grand prize at stake in the competition.
Budda, the only rapper in the competition, told joy news he thinks he deserves the grand price because he has worked hard throughout the competition.
“I do my own thing and I am original; I don’t copy the Katy Perrys, the Keri Hilsons or the R Kellys”.
He added that it takes him an hour to learn and produce his rap – something he believes sets him apart from his fellow contestants.
Marion the only female left in the competition believes her versatility is what has brought her thus far.
“I see myself as diverse and I can bring everything to the table, can do everything from voice down to performance” she said.
Ryan and Kelvin on the other hand, both think they have all it takes to win the competition.
Meanwhile, organizers and the contestants are preparing tirelessly for the final show which comes off this Thursday September 5, 2013 at National Theatre.
