Sesan Ogunro, the director of the alleged leaked 'Skelewu' video by Davido has reacted to attacks by the musician and fans that the video was of substandard quality.
Davido announced that plans were far advanced for the reshoot of the 'Skelewu' video after fans expressed reservations about the quality of the first video.
A video for the song surfaced on video sharing site, Youtube Tuesday but after several negative comments from fans, the musician said the video was work in progress which was leaked and urged fans to "disregard it".
Fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the low standard of the video, with one fan posting on youtube that "This video is completely rubbish... the only thing that made sense was the girl at the begining."
Although Davido announced on Twitter late Tuesday that he was reshooting the video Thursday, Sesan noted that the 'Gobe' hit singer was satisfied with the outcome of the first video.
"From the moment I first watched the leaked version 2 weeks ago I decided to reshoot it. I knew right away that skelewu deserved a better vid," Davido had tweeted.
The director said in a statement Wednesday that, "My attention is drawn to the chaos surrounding the release of the Skelewu video. Myself and my team shot the video for Davido in Nigeria and to the best of my knowledge my client and his team were very happy with the result, when they watched/and approved the video."
Sesan, who boasts a decade of video directing and production experience, said while he has qualms about Davido's decision to reshoot the video, he was disappointed at attempts by the artiste and his management to tarnish his name and hard-won reputation.
"If he has... had a change of heart, that is ok. I am not in any way responsible for the release of the video. I believe Davido and myself did a very good job regarding the video production and as a professional of over 10 years, I find it very irresponsible and immature if my client and his management publicly put out false statements/comments, in an attempt to tarnish my name, credibility and reputation," he said.
"No worries God dey!! Skelewu official video shoot this Thursday shot by @MrMoemusa," Davido tweeted announcing that UK-based director, Mr Moe Musa was directing the new 'Skelewu' video.
The new and official 'Skelewu' video is expected to be released Monday.
