President Mahama will Monday inspect ongoing works on a new three-tier Kwame Nkrumah Interchange and cut the sod to officially commence construction.
The project involves detailed engineering and construction of the roundabout into a three-tier interchange and other ancillary works including drainage, terminals, pedestrian walkways and landscaping.
According to a statement from the Flagstaff House Communications Bureau the Kwame Nkrumah Circle has reached the limit of its capacity to contain the traffic passing through it daily.
Over 84,000 vehicles approach the Circle from the arterial roads and other intersections feeding into the Circle daily.
The project, when completed in two years, will effectively and efficiently tackle the traffic congestion challenges currently being experienced, ensure improved drainage and pedestrian safety among others.
