Hiplife artiste Nana Wiafe Asante Mensah popularly known as Asem has released a tribute song to the memory of iconic broadcaster, Komla Dumor who died last Saturday at his home in London.
Until his death, Komla was host of 'Focus on Africa' on the BBC.
Asem's song, titled "Komla", features snippets of remarks made by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, a former Super Morning Show host.
The rapper, speaking in an interview with Hitz Entertainment News, said Komla Dumor lived a life worth celebrating that is why he recorded the song for him.
"I believe life is very precious and if somebody lived a good life worth celebrating...I have a calling to document their life with the gift that God has given me which is music. One or two songs will not be bad, even a million songs won't be bad," he said.
Still yet to come to terms with the iconic broadcaster's passing, Asem revealed that he was inpired to compose the song after Kojo Oppong Nkrumah's heartbroken tribute to the man whom he took over from as host of the Super Morning Show on Joy FM .
According to him, "Like everybody else, like every well meaning African and Ghanaian, his death is just something that we weren't expecting, overly painful but I didn't find my lyrics until I was driving listening to Joy FM, they were having tributes so people including Tommy Annan Forson spoke then Kojo Oppong Nkrumah came and I could tell he was deeply sad and he started crying on air."
