The Ghana Education Service (GES) says it is working closely with the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and the Anloga District Assembly to eliminate the habitat of the bees responsible for a deadly attack at Anloga E.P. Basic School in the Volta Region and to put measures in place to prevent a recurrence.
In a statement issued on Thursday, December 19, 2025, the GES explained that the coordinated response will focus on completely removing the bees’ habitat and strengthening safety protocols around school environments to avert similar incidents in the future.
The update follows a tragic bee attack at the school on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, which affected a total of 30 people within the school community.

According to the GES, those injured included five teachers who were stung while attempting to rescue learners, three school feeding cooks, and 22 pupils. Two of the affected learners later died from their injuries.
Management of the Service expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and sympathised with the Anloga E.P. Basic School community over the loss.
For victims who sustained varying degrees of injury, the GES wished them a speedy recovery and assured them of the Service’s full support throughout the recovery process.
The Service also commended teachers, officials of the Ghana National Fire Service, and community members for their swift intervention, which it said helped to salvage an otherwise more devastating situation.
