The people of the three Northern regions have been urged to concentrate more on the development of its human resource base to cater for the little natural resources in the area. Mr Albert Abongo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bongo Constituency said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Saturday in Bongo. He said the only way the three Northern Regions could be developed rapidly was through education, which was the major component to the development of the human resource base. Mr Abongo entreated parents to pay much attention to their children, especially their daughters, by sending them to school and ensure that they do not drop-out of school and later perform menial jobs. The MP expressed regret of instances where some parents withdrew their wards from school to do farming in the rainy seasons, whilst others are involved in small scale mining. “Do not allow your children to travel to the south to do menial jobs and jeopardize their future” Mr Abongo cautioned the parents. He said their attention should be focussed on education to develop the region and the human resource base of the area, adding that, he has spent much of his MP Common Fund to sponsor students up to the tertiary. “I have also invested much of my MP Common Fund in building of more Educational Infrastructure in my constituency”, he pointed out.
