The Volta Regional House of Chiefs has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to congratulate him on his appointment and birthday and strengthen ties between the traditional leadership of the region and the Ministry.

The delegation, led by the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, visited the Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

Togbe Tepre Hodo IV said the visit was also an opportunity to deepen the relationship between the House and the Ministry as they work towards the development of the Volta Region and Ghana.

Mr Ablakwa expressed appreciation to the chiefs for the visit and their congratulatory messages.

He said he was particularly grateful that the traditional leaders had travelled to Accra to meet him, noting that he had initially intended to visit the House of Chiefs himself, but the offer was respectfully declined.

The Minister described the visit as a privilege and welcomed the opportunity to host the traditional leaders at his official workplace.

Togbe Tepre Hodo IV commended Mr Ablakwa for what he described as his dedicated service to Ghana and his efforts to promote development in his constituency and the Volta Region.

He noted that the region had, over the years, faced challenges in accessing its fair share of national resources and development opportunities.

According to him, there have been significant changes in recent times, which he attributed partly to the Minister’s efforts to ensure that the interests of the Volta Region receive greater attention.

The President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs also praised Mr Ablakwa for maintaining a strong connection with the region despite his national responsibilities.

He encouraged the Minister to continue championing the interests of the Volta Region while advancing Ghana’s broader national interests.
