Nollywood screen goddess, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and husband Captain Mathew Ekeinde recently celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary.
Captain Mathew, who was then 26, married a young Omotola at a young age of 18 and after clocking 18 years of a fruitful union, the actress is relishing their blissful life together.
The award-winning actress and one of TIME's 100 Most Influential Persons took to photo sharing site Instagram Thursday to give shoutouts to her husband with whom she has four children.
She posted a flipagram of memorable moments with her husband with John Lagend's 'All For You' song playing in the background.
An inscription she posted with the flipagram read: "18 years , still like we dating babe... Nice and easy... My best friend ... Funny, annoying, caring, workaholic... We still here babe, you're still the one! #happymarriageanniversary"
Matthew in a recent interview with Nigerian newspaper the Punch disclosed how he met and proposed to Omotola.
He disclosed that: "We didn’t court. I met her when she was 16 and I was 26. We got married when she was 18. She clocked 36 recently. We were family friends and I met her through my elder sister. She used to come around the house and when she turned 18, I decided she was ripe. I told her I would marry her and she didn’t believe. I went to tell her late mother, who said I should wait till after four years because Tola had just gained admission to the university then. I told the mother that I couldn’t wait because I didn’t trust the guys in the university."
Asked how Mathew proposed to her, the award winning actress recounted that, "That was when I turned 18. We had been friends for about two years. He was like a family friend then but I knew he had some plans. He didn’t say anything serious and I was somehow underage. When I turned 18, on my birthday, he jokingly said, ‘babes you don grow o.’ He told me his plan."
