The Bawku Municipal Assembly has repatriated 66 of the 101 residents of Pusiga who sought refuge in Goulougonsi in neighbouring Togo.
The assembly provided buses to convey them from Goulougonsi to Pusiga, a distance of nine kilometres.
James Dorgbetor, Bawku Municipal Information Officer, told Times that the return of the 66 people, all from the Akpariba gate of the Pusiga chiefdom, followed negotiations between the traditional and municipal authorities.
Arrangements are also being made to return the remaining 35 who belong to the Musah gate.
The Bawku Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Abdulai Abanga, and members of the security committee had on Monday visited the refugees and urged them to return but they wanted assurance from the Pusiga chief, Naba Akwakah, that they would be safe.
The MCE and the security committee members subsequently contacted Naba Akwakah who pledged to ensure their safety.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened to maintain the relative calm in the municipality.
