Black Stars Head Coach Avram Grant has expressed his displeasure at the distance the team had to travel for their final training session ahead of their crucial AFCON tie against Algeria.
The team had to travel for over an hour to the Oyala Stadium, a time the manager found very upsetting.
“I am not impressed with the organization of today’s training at all. We were told that we were going to cover a relatively less distance for today’s training session. I cannot for a moment fathom why we had to travel for well over an hour to train for a game of this magnitude especially at a time where I need to be with my players to go through some tactical sessions.
In the face of these challenges though, i am pretty much optimistic in the ability of the boys in getting a result tomorrow. We are still assessing the fitness of striker Asamoah Gyan. He may have had twenty five minutes of training time with us which is a good sign but we would have to wait till tomorrow to see whether he can play or not.”
The Black Stars would have to get a result if they want to progress to the next stage of the competition as a draw may not be good enough come Friday. The Stars lost 1-2 to Senegal in their first game whilst the Algerians were 3-1 winners against South Africa.
