Ligue 2 side Amiens have completed the signing of Ghana defender Nicholas Opoku on a one-year loan deal.
This is the 23-year-old's second spell with the French club having joined them halfway through last season on loan.
Opoku has been a Udinese player since 2018 and made 19 appearances in Serie A last season before being loaned out.
The defender's initial loan to Amiens last season was interrupted by Covid-19 as he could only make seven appearances. In the clause for the deal however, if Amiens stayed in Ligue 1, they would have had the option to buy Opoku for €4.5 million.
Despite Amiens being relegated, the club still went into negotiations for the services of Opoku and beat off stiff competition from Ligue 1 side Metz, who were also strongly linked to the Ghanaian.
The Stade de la Licorne outfit have a clause in the new deal that will give them an option to acquire the 23-year-old permanently after satisfactory performances.
“Amiens SC and Udinese have agreed to loan Nicholas Opoku,” read a statement from the club website.
“Amiens SC are pleased to announce the return to the club of Nicholas Opoku. Already loaned to Amiens SC last season, Nicholas Opoku returns to Picardy for this new 2020-2021 season. “
