A Suhum Magistrate Court has remanded the driver of the DAF cargo truck that crashed into two buses on the Kyekyewere stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway on Tuesday
Seni Baguian, a 32-year-old driver from neighbouring Burkina Faso, caused the death of some 14 people when his truck burst a tyre and crashed into an STC bus with registration number GE 8131-16 and a Kia bus with registration number GT 4997-20.
The vehicles were being driven by Edmund Kwaku Bonsu, 46, and Abubarkar Fuseini, 40, who were both heading towards Accra from Kumasi.
Appearing in court on Wednesday, September 16, the plea of the accused was not taken and he was subsequently remanded to reappear on September 22.

Earlier, there had been reports that the driver together with his mate had absconded from the scene of the accident before the arrival of the National Disaster Management Organisation, (NADMO) and other security agencies in the country.
But the Eastern Regional Police Command says an arrest was made and a full investigation is ongoing to unravel the cause of the fatal accident.
The incident also resulted in the injury of over 50 passengers who were rushed to the Suhum and Nsawam Government Hospitals.
But sources say, many have been treated and discharged while some have been referred to bigger facilities.
