Former Asante Kotoko Communications Director Sarfo Duku has warned supporters that members of the club’s Board of Directors could be forced to reconsider their positions if the club does not receive stronger financial backing from its supporters.

The Board constituted in February 2026 is chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of Joshob Construction, James Osei Brown.

He is assisted by Chief Executive Officer of Rocksure, Kwasi Osei Ofori as Vice-Chairman, while Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rigworld Group, Kofi Amoa-Abban serves as a member.

Speaking to Luv FM, Sarfo Duku stressed that the financial demands of running a football club as big as Asante Kotoko are enormous, making external support, sponsorship and contributions from supporters crucial to the club’s sustainability.

Duku’s most striking caution was directed at the personal financial pressure faced by those serving on the board.

“Otherwise, their wives will advise them to leave,” he cautioned.

According to him, one of the biggest ways supporters can help is by turning up in their large numbers for matches, as strong attendance can generate gate proceeds while also making the club more attractive to potential sponsors.

“The financial obligation in running a football club like Kotoko is so huge that without external support or without support from supporters, it’s difficult,” Duku said.

He questioned how the club could consistently recruit quality players without the financial resources to compete in the transfer market.

“How do you get quality players if you don’t have money?” he asked, urging supporters to consider what they can do to contribute to the club beyond simply demanding success on the pitch.

He also challenged supporters to assess their commitment to initiatives designed to generate revenue for the club, particularly the Fabu Census project.

“Fabu Census, the official supporters' database of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, is open to all supporters of the club worldwide. Fans 18 years and above can independently register and make monthly financial contributions to support the club,” he suggested.

Sarfo Duku asked supporters to consider how many people have subscribed to the initiative and how many fans regularly attend Kotoko matches.

“We brought the Fabu Census project? How many people have subscribed so far? How many of us attend our matches?” he queried.

“You don’t need any special thing to come to a Kotoko match. Let us come in our numbers, so that if for nothing at all, they can rely on the gate proceeds to cushion them, and then let’s subscribe to the Fabu Census.”
