In September 2019, Will Smith decided to have a family health intervention on Red Table Talk.
He referred to the sit-down as an “emergency family meeting” to address the health of everyone, including son Jaden Smith.
Jaden shared his health concerns that stemmed from eating a vegan/vegetarian diet, which previously had resulted in an intervention from his parents, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Then, on a December 2019 episode of Red Table Talk, he said the public didn’t receive the episode in the way he hoped it would. And he received strange offers from fans of Red Table Talk.
Jaden Smith said people would ask him, ‘Are you sick?’ after Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s intervention
After the episode in which Jaden discussed his relationship with food aired on Facebook Watch, he said he often received unsolicited opinions when he was out in public.
He revealed that he was treated differently by people who recognized him and that random onlookers would offer to buy him food. He also said they would think he was sick.

“After the last episode, I walk in the street, and people are like, ‘Oh my God’ they’re like, ‘Are you sick? Like, can I pick you up? Can I get you some water?'” Jaden said in the December 2019 episode. “I’m here eating too. Like, I’m good. Like, I’m fine.”
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith said Jaden Smith was ‘wasting away’ before their intervention.
Jaden shared on the September show that he became a vegetarian within the past year, which impacted his eating habits.
He said he would eat about two meals a day or have “one big meal” a day.
According to Will and Jada, Jaden’s eating patterns began to affect his physical appearance in a significant way.

“[Jaden] was wasting away,” Jada said. “He just looked drained and was just depleted. He wasn’t getting the nutrients.”
Will added, “he was getting the dark circles under his eyes. There was even a little grayness to his skin and we got really nervous.”
In December 2019, the family gathered with Dr. Mark Hyman from the Cleveland Clinic and Mona Sharma, Will’s nutritionist and wellness coach, to see which areas of their health they could improve.
Each family member had gone through a host of medical tests and discovered the results on the show.

Although Jaden didn’t want his test results shared out of fear of public fodder, Hyman did offer him advice for his eating habits.
Jaden shared on the show that he primarily eats pancakes for breakfast, which Hyman said could be a factor in his frequent stomach issues, as Jaden has sensitivities to gluten and dairy.
So the doctor gave him tips to change his eating habits to get his health back on track.
