Some old students of Opoku Ware School, within the AN/AS Group, have donated medical equipment worth ¢10,000 to help equip the school’s newly refurbished sickbay.
The school administration made the request to the general old students’ group to assist them equip the Sickbay.
Team lead, Okatakyie Edmond Kwabena Edusei, described as a privilege the opportunity to give back to the school that has impacted academic excellence, discipline and good Christian values to them.
“Wey felt equipping the Sickbay was the most important and urgent need. This is because of the current Covid-19 pandemic that has befallen the world and, on the background that all the students will be in school in January 2021.
"There will be the need for the school to have a well-equipped sick bay which can also serve as an isolation centre if need be,” he said.
Items presented include four hospital beds with mattresses, drip stands, examination bed, clinic screen, Aneriod Sphygmomanometer, infrared gun thermometer, digital thermometers compressor nebulizer, blood glucose monitoring system, Littmann Stethoscope and automatic blood pressure monitor.
Receiving the items, the headmaster of the school, Rev Fr. Stephen Owusu Sekyere, indicated the items came in at the right time.
“We are all aware that the Covid-19 cases in Ghana keep going up and for them, in the school, they are at the verge.
"If one student is tested positive, we all know the implication. With the items presented, it makes them ready in case the unfortunate happens,” he said.
The headmaster appealed to other old students and individuals to assist the school in their various projects.
The AN/AS 300+ Group are Akatakyie who completed Form five in 1991 and Sixth Form in 1993.
