David Bowie crouches low, the Thin White Duke surveying his subjects with mic in hand; Prince, draped in leather, blows a kiss in black and white; Freddie Mercury is Superman, spot lit from three directions, fist in the air triumphantly.
Any number of moments from The SSE Arena, Wembley's storied 60-year history could claim iconic status, which is exactly why 'Heroes - The Exhibition' is currently open at the Olympic Way gallery space in London's Wembley Park courtesy of Getty Images, bringing together 100 of the most stunning photos from the venue dating back to the mid-Sixties.
From T-Rex to Elton John to Cilla Black, the photos of these concerts offer a window into the defining cultural moments of pop culture history.
Looking at them, you almost feel as though you're there in the crowd (and indeed some exhibition-goers will have been).
So, ever wanted to know what it was like to be feet away from Bruce Springsteen as he launched into “Born To Run” in 1981? Now’s your chance to get a taste.
Heroes – The Exhibition, at Getty Images Gallery Wembley Park, opens on 28 November.
All images have been sourced from the world-renowned Getty Images’ archival and contemporary libraries, with prints available to purchase from the gallery.
