The prime suspect in the alleged murder of a 25-year-old lady in the Volta Regional capital of Ho, has requested the police to allow him more time to recover to enable him gain enough energy to give a detailed statement on the incident.
Anthony Dordorye was found struggling for his life next to the corpse of Harriet Ahiati, in the early hours of Tuesday, 23rd March 2021, in the deceased’s mother’s rented apartment, around Freedom Hotel.
Anthony was alleged to have attempted suicide on several counts after slitting the throat of his girlfriend.
Anthony who had his intestines gushing out and knife wounds on his neck as a result of the suicide attempts was saved by medical experts at the Ho Teaching Hospital after a 3 and half hour surgery session.
He is, however, under police guard as he responds to treatment.
The footballer attached to a Division Two side, Silion Football Club, was alleged to have murdered the deceased after an argument ensued between them over allegations of Harriet's supposed infidelity.
The corpse of the deceased has since been deposited at the morgue of the Ho Teaching Hospital awaiting autopsy.
Close relatives and friends revealed that the two had been in a relationship for over six years and were seen together almost all the time.
They were, therefore, astonished when they heard of the bizarre news and could not come to terms with it.
The Ho Municipal Police Commander, Supt Anthony Danso, explained that his command is collaborating with the hospital and hopes the suspect would soon recover fully to give his account of the incident.
“We are hoping that he recovers early so we can try and solicit some information from him”, he said.
He detailed that the police had extended its investigation into the community of the lovers to gather additional information to help them unravel the mystery surrounding the death of Harriet Ahiati.
Supt Danso added that the police are yet to carry out an autopsy on the corpse, but stressed that every detailed gathered so far indicates there was "murder and attempted suicide."
