The Audit Committee of Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has been inaugurated.
The Director-General of Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Dr. Eric Oduro Osae who installed the team charged them to support GTEC to pursue the implementation of recommendations of internal and external audit reports as well as any directives from Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
The IAA D-G urged members to develop good working relations with Audit Committees of the public universities, build good governance and effective control systems.
Dr. Oduro Osae further implored the Committee to guide GTEC to develop appropriate risk management framework and support the internal audit function to deliver risk based audit work plans and annual reports.
The Director-General of GTEC, Prof. Mohammed Salifu, in his remarks gave an overview of the evolution of GTEC and provided assurances of his willingness, commitment and support to the committee to help the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission to achieve its mandate.
Members of the Audit Committee are Prof. Kwame Adom Frimpong (Chairman and IAA Board member), Patience Mawushie Dzikunoo (IAA), Edward Langmantey (ICAG), Dr. Margaret Atuahene and Stella Otema Badu (members of GTEC Board)
The establishment of Audit Committees is a statutory requirement enshrined in the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
