The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Keta, Emmanuel Gemegah is hopeful works on the Cassava Processing Factory in Dorveme will be completed in the shortest possible time.
The Cassava Processing Factory forms part of government's One District, One Factory (1D1F) flagship programme. Per reports reaching JoyNews, it will be the main provider of cassava products in the Volta Region.
During a tour on Sunday to inspect the ongoing project, Mr. Gemegah noted that he was impressed by the work done so far.
According to him, upon completion, the factory will create several job opportunities for the unemployed youth in the area. He also stated that the processing of cassava will be lucrative for agribusiness.
"The factory, when operational, will transform the fortunes of cassava production to a very viable agribusiness in the Municipality and the Volta Region and also provide jobs for the youths."
Cassava flour, ethanol, animal feed, dried cassava chips, cassava dough and gari are among the many products that would be derived from the factory.
Hormeku Engineers and Planners are the investing partners of the ongoing project.
